BEATBAKE

Privacy

Our privacy policy — plainly

Beatbake helps you find live music near you. We try to collect as little about you as possible, and we’re upfront about what we do collect and why. Here it is, plainly.

The short version

Browse freely, anonymously. You don’t need an account to use Beatbake, and if you don’t sign in we never know who you are.

We measure demand, not people. We count things like “a gig was viewed” or “someone searched a suburb and we had nothing” — as anonymous numbers, with no name, email, or account attached.

We may share or sell that demand information — but only as anonymous, aggregated numbers that can’t be traced back to any individual. We never sell your personal information.

If you sign in (with Apple), we keep a small amount of personal information so we can remember what you follow. You can delete it any time.

1. Browsing anonymously (most people, most of the time)

You can use the whole of Beatbake without an account. When you do, we record anonymous demand signals to understand what people are looking for and improve our coverage — for example: pages and gigs viewed, searches made (including searches where we had nothing to show), taps on “get tickets”, areas looked at on the map.

These are stored against a rotating, anonymised device code — never your name, email, phone, or precise location. The code is re-generated on a schedule so it can’t follow you over time.

Free-text you type into search is used only to spot demand and is discarded quickly; it is never sold, shared, or kept in our long-term records.

Your location, if you allow it, is used in your browser/phone to show nearby gigs and is not sent to us as a precise coordinate.

We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

2. How we use the anonymous demand information (please read this one)

The anonymous, aggregated picture of where and when people want live music is valuable, and part of how Beatbake stays free. We may share, license, or sell this information to third parties — for example venues, promoters, ticketing companies, or media/tourism partners — but only in a de-identified, aggregated form (counts and trends), with safeguards so that no individual person can be identified from it (we suppress any group too small to be anonymous). We will never sell or share information that identifies you.

3. If you sign in (the personal bit)

Signing in with Apple is optional and only needed to follow bands/venues and get notified. If you do, we store a minimal account record (an identifier from Apple, and what you follow). This personal information is kept separate from the anonymous demand information above and is never mixed into anything we share or sell. You can ask us to delete it at any time and we will.

4. Keeping it safe & not keeping it long

We minimise and automatically delete raw, device-level records on a short schedule; only the anonymous aggregate counts are retained.

We hold information securely and only keep what we need.

5. Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and make a privacy complaint. Contact us at hello@beatbake.com.au and we’ll respond. If you’re not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

6. Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, let signed-in users know.
